KY Georgetown - AMEN House Food + Clothing Distribution Center

AMEN House is a food and clothing distribution center with the bold vision of ending hunger in Scott County. Join our local Emory community to volunteer with AMEN House to organize and clean in either/both the Food Pantry or the Thrift Store.

Location: 319 East Main Street, Georgetown, KY 40324
Suggested Attire: Closed toe shoes and comfortable clothes for work.

GA Atlanta (Buckhead) - Piney Grove Historical African American Cemetery Cleaning

Piney Grove Cemetery is considered the last remaining historic landmark of Piney Grove, the former African-American community or settlement located in Buckhead that may date back as far as the mid-1820s. Piney Grove Cemetery, located on Canterbury Road, is a rare and intact example of an historic African-American cemetery, one of the earliest in Buckhead. Piney Grove Cemetery holds over 300 graves, some of which are believed to be slave burials. Join the Emory Community and Friends of Piney Grove Cemetery to clear brush, weeds and other debris in this historical cemetery.

Location: 834 Canterbury Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324
Parking/Public Transportation: Turn on Canterbury from Lenox road. Canterbury ends at the front gate of The Bluffs at Lenox condos
Suggested Attire: Casual, closed toed shoes are required. Long pants suggested. Minimum Age: 17 years old

GA Macon - Ocmulgee Mounds - National Historical Park

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park is a prehistoric American Indian site, where many different American Indian cultures occupied this land for thousands of years. Join other members of the Emory community to volunteer in either natural resources or maintenance in this amazing park.

Location: 1207 Emery Highway, Macon, Georgia
Suggested Attire: Closed toe shoes and comfortable clothes.
Minimum Age: TBD.

DC Area - Arlington Food Assistance Center / Scouting for Food Drive/Sorting

Sponsored by: Emory DC Network

Emory Alumni of the DC-area are excited to partner with the Boy Scouts of Arlington and the Arlington Food Assistance Center for Scouting for Food, the organizations' largest food drive for the year. AFAC serves food to over 2,200 families every week. Emory will help sort out the truckloads of donated food that the Boy Scouts source throughout Arlington during the entire week prior. Scouting for Food is held at Our Savior Lutheran at 825 S Taylor Street, Arlington, VA 22204. All ages and children are welcome!

Location: 825 S Taylor Street, Arlington, VA 22204 Parking/Public Transportation: Closest metro station is Ballston Metro Station.
Suggested Attire: Casual, closed toed shoes are required. Long pants suggested. Minimum Age: none, open to all.

GA Atlanta - Children Read Book Repair Project

Children Read is designed to improve reading skills of children by giving them books of their own before they reach kindergarten. To do this, Children Read collects and repairs used and new books and then distributes them free of charge to children. Join your Emory Community to make a difference!

Location: 2936 M N. Druid Hills Rd. Atlanta 30328 (Behind Ameris Bank across the street from Toco Hills Shopping Center)
Suggested Attire: Emory T-Shirt and comfortable clothes.
Minimum Age: 12 years old.
Limited spots available, must Pre-register.

NY New York City - Empowering Youth with Ali Forney Center

Sponsored by: Emory New York Alumni Network

Join us this Emory Cares Day as we empower vulnerable youth in NYC through collaborating with Ali Forney Center, a non-profit that provides housing and comprehensive support services for LGBTQ+ youth in NYC. For this project, you'll spend the part of your day supporting small beautification projects at the Ali Forney Center (e.g. helping organize their clothing donation closet, or cleaning/revitalizing community spaces for upcoming programs). Volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with leaders at Ali Forney while learning more about the program.

Turn hunger into hope with your own two hands by packing nutritious meals for hungry children around the world. Feed My Starving Children strives to eliminate starvation in children throughout the world. Join your Emory community to pack meals to be donated to Feed My Starving Children food partners around the world.

Location: 1680 N. Glenville Dr., Suite 300, Richardson, TX 75081
Parking: Free at venue in parking lot
Suggested Attire: Closed toe shoes are required. No jewelry. Otherwise, come in clean, comfortable clothes.
Minimum Age: 5yrs (under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
